Is there such a thing called all season comforter, or is it just a scam?

Making choices is hard. Sometimes it's exhausting.
Sometimes it's easier to not make a choice.
I do it all the time.
But not choosing is also a choice.
By allowing an algorithm to decide what I'm going to watch, or even just to provide the options from which I made my choice, I am ceding my agency to the machine. I am choosing to trust the people who programmed that algorithm, and the choices that they made.
And, increasingly, if this isn't pointing you towards political extremism, it's pulling you back to the mean, taking you from whatever potentially unique and interesting and maybe independent media you might be consuming back to whatever had the most marketing dollars pumped into it.
@ajroach42 Human curation also seems to be able to consistently make links between pieces of media in ways that algorithms just seem to struggle with, and in ways that are more fun or provoke more thought.
Like... people do make some very silly lists sometimes, but they're still fun. And I feel like making good 'intro to [genre]' or 'best examples of...' lists takes familiarity with both media and potential audience, and you can't get those from data mining reviews and IMdB.
@nev There were some lines in Haunting of Hill House , the tv miniseries, that felt really out of place and I think it's because they were just verbatim from the book
@mcc no, that's Haunting of Hill House. This is House on Haunted Hill. Yes, they are actually different
Wow, I hadn't realized the CSS revert-rule keyword (a feature I originally proposed, albeit with a different syntax) is now Baseline, as of Sep 14! 😍
Only 2y4m from initial proposal to Baseline.
1y8m if you count from the WG resolution!
Full timeline: https://lea.verou.me/specs/#revert-rule
This allows creating declarations with variables etc that disappear entirely when invalid instead of becoming IACVT, paving the way for real block-level conditionals.
Correction: @JaneOri had posted an even earlier proposal for the same concept, 4 years before! I’ve now updated the data to include hers first:
No Brazil, what are you doing?
Please don't elect another Bolsonaro. 🙏 🇧🇷
@pezmico Representative democracy is cooked.
Oh my dear @cyan... ^^;;
Chekhov's chandelier
oh turns out it's this Frank Lloyd Wright house
I'm halfway through Alan Wake so far and this game is amazing!
With more than half the votes in Brazil's presidential election counted, Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro held a narrowing lead as pollster Datafolha projected the election would proceed to a second vote. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/10/05/world/brazil-lula-bolsonaro-narrow-election/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #worldnews #brazil #luizinacioluladasilva #flaviobolsonaro #latinamerica
@mastodonmigration when I see results like this in places I don’t know that much about, I have a little bit of a “what is wrong with them?” reaction but remind myself that’s misguided and not helpful. More likely this result is manufactured and aided by Trump and other wealthy fascist interests
Did not follow it very closely, but there are accusations of the US interfering in the election, and certainly Meta was using their dark arts to poison people's minds.
@JessMahler I've reached out to the op and we've established contact, thanks for alerting me!
@ljwrites
You're welcome! Glad it's working out
Hi
@maryelizabeth hey hey hey!
I'm a little disoriented by the whiplash from what I assumed was "monologue added after the fact because test audiences didn't get it" to normal introductory "here are the characters" narration
